QTopia Application

GoXbox made a Qtopia image for the Neo1973 (30 December 2007) with two GPS applications as displayed in Figure .

The system images were available from http://www.linuxtogo.org/~goxboxlive/Neo1973/images/. Download qtopia-neo1973-roadmap-gps.rootfs.jffs2 and uImage-2.6.23.1+svnr3140-r3-neo1973.bin and flash them to the Neo as described in Section 21.1.

We then need to install the GPS driver, which is separately available as gllin. This comes with restrictions on its distribution and is available from http://3rdparty.downloads.openmoko.org/gllin/. Download the ipk file, then upload it to the Neo, then install the package.

Once installed, two new applications will appear in the Applications list: RoadMAP and RoadGPS. Either will start gllin automatically.

Be aware that after exiting from these applications gllin will still be running and consuming the battery. To save the battery stop gllin from running by clicking the Kill Glin application under the Applications.

Information about obtaining maps for the RoadMAP application is available from http://sourceforge.net/projects/roadmap/.
