Opening Dialer

After opening the dialer application, like most OpenMoko applications it will fill the screen. We will see the usual numeric keypad for dialing telephone numbers. The numbers are echoed in the numeric display at the top screen as we type them. The Delete and Dial buttons on the right, with the Keypad and History tabs along the bottom, complete the interface.

We simply tap the numbers we wish to dial and then press the Dial button.

A longer tap on certain keys will produce a different effect. A long tap on the * button will result in a +, which is useful for indicating international dialling, irrespective of the local convention for international dialing. A long tap on the 0 button will produce a p, which turns on pulse rather than tone dialling. A long tap on the # will produce a w, which will wait for a dial tone, but is ignored by GSM.
