Audio and Video

The audio system on OpenMoko uses gstreamer, pulseaudio, and alsa. Gstreamer is used for decoding the various codecs (the encodings of the audion, such as mp3, ogg, wav, etc) and for filtering. Pulsaudio performs the mixing and provides transparency. Alsa is the lower level (kernel) application programmer interface (API) for controlling the PCM and the mixer hardware.
